Have you ever chopped up some veggies and snacked as you go? Or sliced up some fresh bread, just to turn your head and watch your kids run off with a few snagged slices? That’s because food ALWAYS tastes better fresh off of the cutting board! So come on in, enjoy some food, share some recipes, and don’t worry – nobody around here will look at you funny when you keep saying you’re not actually hungry right now…even as you reach for your second helping of food!
I’m interested in Real Food. You know, the stuff that actually grows, not the machine manufactured, processed stuff that the masses are feeding themselves and their children every day. Don’t get me wrong, I’m as much a sucker for some garbage food as the next gal – I think hubby and I did a year straight on cheap frozen pizzas, Ramen noodles, and hotdogs back in the day. But now we have kids and now we have responsibilities. I believe you have to feed their minds and their bodies, not just their tummies. Sometimes the best you can hope to achieve is filling their bellies so they stop griping, but the rest of the time I strive to make sure they have enough fat for their brains and proteins for their muscles and veggies for their….uh…whatever veggies are good for! There’s no specific research or science behind my madness, just a deep desire to teach my kids how to eat properly and maybe even spread a little influence and combat the rising childhood obesity epidemic along the way!
In the mean time, I’m here learning and growing and adapting – I just decided to do it publicly! So feel free to share, comment, criticize, question – we can all learn together!
