Homemade (not from a can) Sloppy Joes

Would you believe my hubby thought Sloppy Joes came from a can!? It took me a long time to convince him that, just because something is sold that way, it doesn’t mean that it is actually meant to be eaten! Sloppy Joes are soo easy to make and it can all be done in one pot too – so there’s minimal mess. How can it be any easier eating meat from a can!? Gross!! This is a huge crowd pleaser in our house and even our pickiest eater chows down on it. Pair it up with some delicious fresh bread and a nice Dill Pickle and you’re all set!

Sloppy Joes:

1 lb ground beef
1 cup ketchup
4 TBSP water
2 TBSP brown sugar
2 tsp Worcestershire
2 tsp yellow mustard
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp salt
bread or burger buns

Here’s all you have to do:
1. Brown the beef and drain off the grease.
2. Stir in the rest of ingredients – all of them – just dump them right in there and mix them up. Bring it to a boil.
3. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 30-40 minutes. Just give it a stir every now and then
4. Enjoy!!

Come on now….that was easy enough for even the Hubbs to cook up!

The men in my life are HUGE sloppy joe fans, and they too think it only comes from a can. I think I may have to try this and see what they think. 😉

OMG, made this tonight for dinner and it was awesome! My incredibly picky hubby loved it, and all 3 of my kids ate everything on their plates. This was so easy and delicious. I now have a new go-to recipe when I can’t figure out what to make!

I have read the recipe, again and again and I can´t find the difference between the “homemade” product and the stuff in the can. There is not even a bit of fresh vegetables in it, just processed meat an industrial flavor powders. Just open a can and stop pretending!
